# AI Teams: Choosing Your Model Lineup

> **Quick Answer:** AI Teams groups your AI models into specialist teams - the A-team, Operators, and Daily Drivers - and lets you choose which model from each provider fills each team's slot. Leave it on Auto and the Smart Selector routes each message to the best-fit team, or pick a team yourself for a single turn.

## What It Does

Each AI provider (Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity) offers multiple model tiers - from fast and efficient to powerful and thorough. AI Teams organizes those tiers into named teams, and you choose which model from each provider fills each team's slot - all-premium, all-fast, or any mix that fits how you work.

## The A-team

Deep deliberation for strategic decisions, novel problems, and high-stakes calls. Uses the most capable version of each AI.

* Produces more thorough, nuanced responses
* Handles complex reasoning better
* Uses more of your monthly usage per message

**Best for:** Complex analysis, high-stakes decisions, detailed research, important documents.

## Operators

The workhorse team - real tasks that don't need maximum brainpower at maximum cost.

* Handles day-to-day professional work well
* Balances depth and usage per message

**Best for:** Planning, drafting, and everyday questions that still deserve a capable model.

## Daily Drivers

Speed and large context for parsing, structured extraction, and data work.

* Responds quicker
* Uses the least of your monthly usage per message
* Handles everyday questions well

**Best for:** Quick questions, brainstorming, everyday tasks, casual exploration. This is the default team for new conversations.

## Auto and the Smart Selector

Leave your team on **Auto** and the Smart Selector routes each message to the best-fit team automatically. You can also pick a team manually for a single turn - it applies to that message, then hands control back to Auto.

## Where to Find It

Go to **Settings, Usage Control tab**. Your AI Teams lineup is there.

You can also pick a team per turn from the chat's settings panel.

## Availability

AI Teams model selection is available on every plan. **Spark** includes two teams - **Operators** and **Daily Drivers** (no A-team) - and you switch between them per turn. The automatic **Smart Selector** (Auto) and the third team, the **A-team**, are available on **Pro, Frontier, Power, and Enterprise**. Frontier, Power, and Enterprise can additionally select the most capable premium models into any team slot.

## Tips

* Leave it on Auto for most conversations (Pro and above) - the Smart Selector routes each message to the best-fit team, so you rarely need to think about it.
* Switch to the A-team manually when a question deserves the extra depth. Most everyday questions don't need the most powerful models.
* Daily Drivers uses the least of your monthly usage per message. If you're hitting your usage limits, lean on Daily Drivers for routine tasks and save the A-team for important conversations.
* The difference is most noticeable on complex, multi-layered questions. For simple factual queries, the teams produce similar results.
* Your AI Teams setting applies to all modes - Sequential, Super Mind, Debate, and others.
